June 6th-7th marked a special celebration for the city of Berkeley. Book lovers joined authors from around the world for the Bay Area Book Festival. It was 2 full days of guest speakers, including an evening with JUDY BLOOM. Nearly 300 authors were featured and attendees had fun exploring exhibitors, and visiting the 50,000-book Lacuna installation, which offered free books to take home!
Adjacent to Civic Center Park on Allston Way was the festival’s own organic beer and wine garden hosted by The Organic Brewers Guild and featured the Big Red Beer Wagon. There were a variety of delicious organic beers for purchase from Bison Organic Beer, Thirsty Bear Brewery, and Uncommon Brewers as well as some awesome red and white wines from Urban Legend Cellars. Guests enjoyed sitting under shade trees in the beer garden, perusing the new books they just purchased, got for free, or found on the tables.
